Rocky Mountain Hot Shale Plays: The Bakken and Niobrara - Next Target of Our Exclusive Leasehold Database
Recent activity in the Rocky Mountains of the United States suggests that this region is set for an explosion of oil and gas drilling similar to what we are seeing in the Marcellus-Utica Shale plays. The Rocky Mountains are home to a variety of basins with numerous active plays, including the Bakken, Niobrara and Gammon. In the last quarter alone, there were more than $5 billion in land grabs and joint ventures in the Bakken; as well as an announcement by Anadarko Petroleum Corporation that the Wattenberg Field in north-central Colorado may contain more than 1 billion barrels of oil alone.
With all this in mind, the Apollo Mapping-Jim Bourbeau Land Service (JBLS)/Surfside Abstractingteam is proud to announce that we are building the first database to track leasing activity on both public and private lands in the Rocky Mountain region. To coordinate this effort, we opened an office in Billings, Montana on January 3rd where JBLS' president, Jim Bourbeau, worked as a landman for more than a decade before opening their Marcellus-Utica office.
In the coming months, we will release counties of leasehold coverage in digital format (i.e. Esri shapefiles and KMZs) as they are completed. In the meantime, the JBLS-Surfside team is available for custom title work and courthouse research. The Rocky Mountain leasehold database will be similar to our current offering in the Marcellus-Utica Shale plays.
If you have any questions about the new Rocky Mountain leasehold database, our custom title work and/or would like to submit a request for leaseholds in a county of interest, you can let us know at (720) 470-7988 or brock@apollomapping.com.
